Marker support
Answers for setting up matches, scoring, Apple Watch, membership and your match data.
Set up a match
Marker walks you through the same order as a real match, from the names to the first serve.
- PlayersChoose Padel or Tennis, Singles or Doubles, and enter the names.
- TossRecord who won your real toss, or tap Flip a coin. The winner picks Serve first, Receive first, Choose an end or Let opponents choose, and the other team gets the remaining choice. In doubles, pick each team’s first server.
- RulesAdvantage, Sudden death or, for padel, Star Point. Then One set or Best of three. With Apple Watch, choose which device scores.
- Start matchTap the half of the team that wins each point.
Questions and answers
Scoring
How do I score and correct points?
Tap the half of the court belonging to the team that won the point. To undo the last point, touch and hold either half.
Undo keeps working after match point: on the result screen, choose Undo match point. On Apple Watch, Undo last point is also in the match options.
Which match formats does Marker support?
- Advantage: win a game by two points.
- Sudden death: one deciding point at deuce.
- Star Point (padel): two advantages, then a deciding point.
- One set or best of three, played to six games, won by two, with a seven-point tiebreak at 6-6.
- In best of three, an optional 10-point match tiebreak instead of the final set.
At a deciding point, Marker asks which court the receiving team chooses: the right (deuce) or the left (advantage).
Timed sessions, short sets, pro sets and other formats not listed here are not supported yet.
How do I finish early, resume or replace a match?
- Finish early: Settings › Finish match early saves the score in History, marked ended early, without a winner.
- Resume: choose Resume saved match in Settings, or Resume match on the scoreboard. Only the current match that ended early can be resumed; older matches in History cannot.
- Replace: starting a new match while one is in progress keeps the old one in History, marked abandoned. Nothing is erased.
iPhone and Apple Watch
How do iPhone and Apple Watch work together?
One device scores and the other mirrors it. You choose the scoring device when you set up a match. Keep Marker on the same version on both devices.
To switch, reconnect both devices and check they show the same score. Stop scoring on the other device, then open Settings on the one you want to use and choose Take over scoring here.
If the scores disagree: when both devices were scored while disconnected, Marker pauses scoring and asks you to choose Keep this device’s score or Use other device’s score. Compare both and pick the correct one. Marker never adds the two sets of points together. The version you do not choose is kept as a recovery copy and included when you export your data.
Why does my Watch leave the score when I lower my wrist?
When a match starts on Apple Watch, Marker starts a match session so the score is there when you raise your wrist.
- When Marker asks, allow Workouts. Marker reads no Health data and saves no workout.
- Check that LIVE appears on the Watch scoreboard.
- If you see Resume session, tap it.
- Another workout, for example in Apple’s Workout app, can take over from Marker. Finish it, then choose Resume session in Marker. Your score is saved.
- If you declined permission earlier, change it in the Health app on your iPhone (Apple explains how in Share your data in Health), then choose Resume session.
watchOS settings such as Always On and Return to Clock also affect what you see, and Marker cannot override all of them. You can always keep scoring without a session.
Membership
How do I restore or manage my membership?
Marker includes five free matches. Membership is a one-time lifetime pass or a monthly subscription, priced by Apple in your local currency.
- See your options in Settings › Membership › View membership.
- To restore a purchase, choose Restore purchases in Settings while signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
- If prices do not appear, check your connection and choose Retry loading membership.
Apple handles billing, cancellations and refunds. Deleting Marker does not cancel a subscription. Apple’s guides: Cancel a subscription and Request a refund.
Your matches and data
How do I export my matches?
Open Settings › Your data, choose Export match history & recovery data, and save the file somewhere private. It contains your current match, up to 200 recent matches, any score waiting for a choice between devices, recovery copies and any save that could not be read. It includes player names.
Marker cannot import this file or restore it in the app yet, so treat it as a record of your matches rather than a restore point. Marker never uploads it by itself.
Marker says my saved match could not be read
Please do not delete the app. Marker keeps the unreadable save for recovery, and deleting the app would remove it.
- If Marker says it recovered the previous saved score, check the score before you continue.
- Export your data from Settings › Your data, then contact us.
How do I remove my data?
Delete Marker from your iPhone and from your Apple Watch. Each device keeps its own copy, and a reinstalled app can receive your matches again from the other device. Deleting the app does not remove exports you saved elsewhere or existing device backups, and it does not cancel a subscription. The privacy policy explains more.
Where are my matches stored?
On your iPhone and Apple Watch. Marker works without an account, and Velvet Motion runs no server that receives your names or scores. The privacy policy has the details.
Still need help?
Most questions are answered above. If yours is not, you can email Velvet Motion. We will never ask for your Apple Account password, payment details or Health data.
